Abstract
558,379. Anchor nuts. LEISURE, J. R. Nov, 13, 1942, No. 16118. [Class 89 (i)] In an anchor nut structure the nut is retained in an anchoring shell by a removable detent member. The nut 12, Fig. 2, is received in a polygonal or equivalent shell B riveted to the plate 24. The nut has a shoulder leading to a circular flange 11 clinched over a fibre &c. insert 10. Above the shoulder 21 the shell B is circular and has a groove 20 for a retaining spring 21 with ends 22 projecting through a gap 23 in the shell to facilitate insertion and removal of the spring. The gap and the ends may be dispensed with. In a modification, the spring is bent to polygonal form and is rotatable in the shell between two positions in one of which the nut is free for insertion or removal and in the other of which the nut is locked in place. A radial end of the spring projects through a gap with a detent action to lock the spring in either of its set positions. In another form the shell E. Fig. 10, receives both the nut 40 and a polygonal fibre member 41 with anti-splitting cap 50. A gang of the nuts is anchored to a securing strip 46 by bent over lugs 45 in such a way that limited longitudinal and transverse movements are permitted to permit location of the nuts concentric with the bolt holes that are shown arranged for flush fixing.
