Abstract

555,783. Anchor nuts. ROBERTSON, E. R. Nov. 19, 1942, No. 16381. [Class 89 (i)] Housings for anchor nuts are made substantially without waste from strip stock bent up into U-shape the side flanges 13 being punched at 14 for attaching rivets. A circular extension 22 projects through a hole in the bridge part 12, and lugs 15 punched from the side walls 11 engage recesses or a groove in the nut to prevent axial withdrawal. The side walls prevent turning of the nut but a slight amount of lateral and axial play is provided. The nut may be a self-locking nut and constructed in more than one piece. A length of strip may be formed into an anchorage for several nuts.
