Abstract
558,075. Rotor driving arrangements. MESSIER AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT, Ltd. (formerly RUBERY OWEN MESSIER, Ltd.), and ARNOT, A. May 11. 1942, No. 6373. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] A light weight motor used for adjusting apparatus such as described in Specification 553,789, [Group XXXVIII], is stopped quickly upon de-energization by a brake or detent device. The motor drives its load shaft 46 through a friction clutch 25, 26 and a double worm reduction gear. A pivoted armature 36 completes the magnetic circuit of the field when the coils 21 are energized, but when the coils are de-energized, a spring retracts the armature and moves a stop member 31 into a notch in the clutch disc 26 thereby arresting the motion of the shaft 46. The friction clutch slips so as to allow the motor armature to come to rest without excessive shock.
