Abstract

557,979. Methyl methacrylate. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I., and MARKS, B. M. June 8, 1942, No. 7767. [Class 2 (iii)] Methyl methacrylate recovered from its polymer by depolymerization by heating is purified by steam distillation which yields a colourless product. The process may be effected by introducing steam at the bottom of a fractionating column into which the methyl methacrylate is introduced at a point between the top and bottom.
