Abstract
557,440. Secret transmission. REDIFFUSION, Ltd., and ADORJAN, P. Aug. 7, 1942, No. 11058. [Class 40 (iv)] In an arrangement for distributing the successive elements of a message to a number of separate circuits, a varying carrier obtained from an oscillator 6 and modulated with the speech signals supplies a number of tuned circuits 9a ... 9c which are energized in turn as the carrier frequency swings between its limits. The outputs pass after demodulation by detectors 10a ... 10c to separate switches 12a ... 12c which are manually set to direct the component channels through distorting devices 13a ... 13d, e.g. frequency inverters or phase changers, to the line 14, which may be a transmission line or may lead to a wireless or wired-wireless link. The receiving apparatus is similarly arranged and signals for synchronizing the oscillator therein are sent over a separate line 24 or over the line 14. Provision may be made for modifying the manner or rate of variation of the carrier frequency.
