Abstract
556,821. Hydraulic power systems. COSTA, H. DA, and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. April 20, 1942, No. 5267. (Class 69 (ii)] In a hydraulic power system in which high power is required for a short duration such as may be required on aircraft, the pump 27 is adapted to be driven to produce a surge of pressure from a flywheel 14 which is speeded up to store kinetic energy by being driven from an electric motor 10 under control of a governor 15 and a motor control device 18. The pump is started by throwing-in a clutch member 24 by operating a lever 28, and the pressure fluid passes to the device to be operated via a pipe 37 and non-return valve 38. The pump inlet 32 is connected to a sump 33 by a pipe having a non- return valve 34, and is also connected to a secondary bleed line 35 leading to the engine pressurelubricating system which keeps the pump primed. A non-return valve 36 is fitted in this system.
