Abstract
556,101. Filters. HIGGINBOTTOM, C. J., and HIGGINBOTTOM, S. May 27, 1942, No. 7156. [Class 46] An inward flow rotary filter, particularly for separating husks of grain from the washing water coming from a grain washer, comprises a reticulate cylinder 3 provided with brushes 13 inclined to the axis of rotation for feeding the separated solid matter to one end of the enclosing chamber 27 and scoops 15 for delivery the material into the mouth 16 of a chamber 17 fitted with a worm 18 for compressing and discharging the material. The conical chamber may be replaced by a cylindrical chamber with a worm of increasing pitch. Moisture separated in the chamber is discharged through perforations in the end 21. The worm is preferably driven from the shaft 8 of the cylinder 3. The latter is divided into radical compartments 5 from which the liquid escapes through apertures 10 in a flange 9 on the end 6 of the cylinder to a chute 11. A distributing channel 1 for the mixture, a spray pipe 20 for additional water and a cleaning plug 12 are provided. Specification 556,102 is referred to.
