Abstract
555,905. Linear-dimension gauges. RIDDIHOUGH, M. Jan. 6, 1942, No. 206. [Class 106 (ii)] ] [Also in Group XXII] A test gauge is made by securing a centrifugally cast sleeve of wear resisting alloy on an easily machinable core. The wear resisting alloy, e.g. that sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Stellite," is poured into a centrifugal mould rotating at say 2,000 r.p.m. to form a sleeve B, Fig. 2, 1 inch in diameter and <SP>3</SP>/ 16 inch thick and this is brazed or silver soldered to a 0.4 to 0.6 per cent carbon steel core G adapted to fit a hollow handle H. In a modification, after waiting about 5 seconds for the " Stellite " in the sand mould A, Fig. 3, to cool, aluminium, iron or steel G<SP>1</SP> is poured into the mould while at rest to form the core or, if a hollow core G2 is required, the mould is rotated during the casting of the steel also. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 416,119 and 464,901, [both in Group XXII].
