Abstract

555,388. Road vehicle suspension. STANDARD MOTOR CO., Ltd., and TURNER, W. R. Feb. 14, 1942, No. 2013. [Class 108 (ii)] Each wheel is connected to the frame by independent quadrilateral linkwork including a torsion bar 14 arranged longitudinally and having an integral arm 20 with a further bent end 22 carrying the hub assembly, a bearing on the frame near the arm and bent end 15 anchored to the frame. The bearing is formed by a rubber sleeve 26 lengthened by end plates 29 one of which has a fork 31 embracing the arm 20. The arm 36 of a shock absorber forms the upper member of the quadrilateral link work.
