Abstract
552,927. Drawing apparatus for spinning-frames. CASABLANCAS HIGH DRAFT CO., Ltd., and NOGUERA, J. Oct. 27, 1941, No. 13814. [Class 120 (ii)] In drafting mechanism for textile fibres of the type using two endless bands for engaging and guiding the fibres being drawn, the belts are so arranged with respect to the front drawing rollers that the flattened strand is delivered by the belts to the rollers in a plane at right angles to the line of contact of the drawing rollers while the surfaces of the belts which are gripped between the beltdriving rollers are in a plane at right angles to the plane in which the strand passes from between the belts; by this means the belt-driving rollers can be disposed with their axes parallel to the axes of the front and back drawing rollers. As shown the belts 1, 2 are in contact with the fibres while passing from back guiding members 6 to front guiding members 5 while, in passing from the members 5 to the members 6, they pass between belt-driving rollers 3, 4, the strand leaving the back drawing rollers 7, 8 being taken in a plane at right angles to the line of contact of those rollers and being delivered to the front drawing rollers 9, 10 in a plane at right angles to the line of contact thereof. In a modification the belts are arranged to turn the fibres through 90 degrees while passing between them by the use of guiding members disposed with their axes at right angles to the axes of the belt-driving rollers. In a further modification the belts are guided between the first guiding members with driving rollers by middle guiding members and the driving rollers by middle through 90 degrees on leaving their driving rollers so that they travel in one and the same plane between the middle and front guiding members while in contact with the strand. Means may be provided for pressing the belts against each other or for diverting the belts from their straight pass in order to increase their grip on the strand and the pressing means may be resilient.
