Abstract
552,520. Two-part couplings. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., McLOUGHLIN, H. F., HILL, W. E. MORGAN, R. W., and WINTLE, T. D. G. Oct. 6, 1941, Nos. 2217/42 and 119/42. Divided out of 552,503. [Class 38 (i)] A terminal end for an electric conductor for engagement with a socket formed as a resilient clamp such as that described in Specification 552,503, consist of a ferrule having an enlargement or recess to co-operate with a corresponding formation in the socket to secure the ferrule therein, a rubber sleeve d covering part of the ferrule and the end of the insulation of the conductor. The ferrule a may be closed at the end and provided with a flange b, the end c of the conductor being soldered into the ferrule. In a modification, the ferrule is open at the end so that the bared conductor can be drawn through, turned back externally of the ferrule and secured by the sleeve d. The conductor is thus placed in direct contact with the socket. A flat terminal may be made as a U-shaped member m, Fig. 9, having an enlargement or protuberance m<SP>2</SP> to co-operate with a recess n<SP>2</SP> in a socket formed of flat plates n resiliently pressed together. The conductor c passes through a perforation m<SP>1</SP> in the member m and is turned back and secured by the sleeve d.
