Abstract

552,121. Agricultural implements. STANCLIFFE, C. W. Sept. 18, 1941, No. 11993. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] In an agricultural digging machine, short blades or tines 5 are mounted on a vertical endless belt 4 supported below a frame 1 between land wheels 2, 3 by chains passing over toothed pinions 14, 15. The upper pinions are rotated through a belt 11 by a petrol engine on the frame. The engine also drives the front land wheels. The belt carrying the blades may swing about the shaft 12 on which the upper toothed pinions 14 are mounted, and is pressed against the face of the ground by springs 21 connected to arms on the shaft. When the belt is tilted by hard ground, the clutch in the driving mechanism is thrown out.
