Abstract

551,912. Fuel admission devices. SCINTILLA, Ltd. Jan. 29, 1942, No. 1240. Convention date, March 13, 1941. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel injector as shown in Fig. 1 includes a barrel 1 which is held in a casing 3 by a nut 4 and a valve 10 which is opened by the fuel and has a flat end which closes a central spraying orifice 18. The orifice is formed in a corundum insert 17 so mounted in a plate 2 that its upper surface lies below the upper face of the plate. Fuel enters through passages 12, 15 and is delivered to a whirling chamber through tangential passages 16. According to a modified construction the insert is dispensed with, the spraying orifice being formed in the plate 2.
