Abstract

551,808. Seats. CHESTON, A.S., EDMONDS, E. C., CHESTON, B., and CORBER, F. H. Nov. 7, 1942, No. 14569/41. [Class 52 (ii)] A vehicle or other seat frame 2 is adjusted for tilt, or tilt and elevation, while maintaining a prescribed vertical or inclined path for the rear edge, by supporting one edge by toggle links 4, 5 from a base frame 3, with an adjusting screw 13 connected to one link and a control link 22 pivoted to the other link and to the front of the base frame, the front edge of the seat frame having pin and slot connection 16, 18 with the base frame. The pin may be fitted with rounded shoulders 20, 21, Fig. 4, riding over the slot to accommodate the tilt. In place of the pin and slot connection the front edge of the seat frame may be connected with the base frame by a short link, or by a lever 31, Fig. 8, pivoted at 34 to the base frame, the control link 30 being connected to the lower end of the lever. The toggles may be at the front edge, Fig. 10, the rear edge being supported by a link 36 to which the control link 40 is connected.
