550,474. Refrigerating. AKTIEBOLAGET ELEKTROLUX. April 24, 1942, No. 5518. Convention date, May 8, 1941. [Class 29] Absorption systems.-The generator of a continuous cycle inert gas system comprises a boiler element 21, Fig. 1, arranged outside and laterally of a heating tube 24, and a gas bubble pump 20 in heat conducting relation with the heating tube and disposed laterally of the boiler element. The boiler and pump elements may comprise straight upright stretches of tube welded along parallel lines to the heating tube as shown. In one modification, Fig. 2, the pump element 20 only is welded to the heating tube and the boiler element is connected by an inverted U-tube 28 and branch 27 to the strong liquor conduit of the liquor heat exchanger 17, so that evolved vapour passes over the strong liquor for rectification on its way to the vapour pipe 23, while the weak liquor flows to the liquor heat exchanger. In another arrangement, Fig. 3, the boiler element comprises a horizontal bent tube having one limb 38 welded to the heating pipe 30, while the pump element 35 is coiled partly around and welded to the heating pipe, and delivers to a separating vessel 40. Vapour passes from vessel 40 to the upper limb of the boiler element and liquid to the liquor heat exchanger 17. The heat transfer from the heating tube may be adapted to particular climate requirements by modifying the dimensions of the welding. The heating tube may be made of welded sheet metal, or of stainless steel, and of rectangular cross section.
