Refrigerating, absorption machines for.-In continuous-cycle systems containing an inert auxiliary medium and wherein an open-bottomed sleeve 10 is provided for the heating means of the generator 6, an element comprising a fluted member 16, Fig. 2, and a tubular baffle 17 is inserted in the sleeve to direct the combustion-products from a gas burner 13 against the walls of the sleeve. The generator is surrounded by a heat - insulated jacket 15 closed at the bottom and open at the top, and the combustion products escaping through holes 14 in the sleeve pass up the jacket and heat the wall 9 of the generator. The usual riser coil 11 leading to a pumping pipe 12 surrounds the lower part of the sleeve. The sleeve and inserted element are preferably of rustless iron or aluminium, and are in metallic contact. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), comprises also the use of an electric heating element in the sleeve when the element 16, 17 is removed. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
