Abstract

550,208. Ships' fenders. HUNT, J. B. March 13, 1942. No. 3324. [Class 113 (i)] A skid fender which is especially applicable for use when launching ships' lifeboats is formed of flexible members which dispense with the use of templates and take the form of a plurability of strips of flexible material 6, preferably of elm wood of tapered cross-section as in Fig. 3, the strips being bounded by nosing irons or runners 8, 9 pivoted together. The upper runner 9 is provided with a gripegunwhale fitting 11, and the lower runner 8 is connected to a lashing rope 17 secured to a gripe fitting 19 on the other gunwhale.
