Abstract

547,542. Electric incandescent lamps. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., and ALDING- TON, J. N. May 30, 1941, No. 6939. [Class 39 (ii)] Tungsten filament gasfilled lamps, especially projection lamps with a closely arranged filament 9, are made immune from blackening by means of a disc 12 of nickel spot-welded to a sheet of nickel gauze 13 carried by a nickel ring 15 supported by the pillar 14 or held as a tight fit by engaging the bulb wall to which it may be sealed. The tungsten particles in the convection stream set up in the gas of the lamp are intercepted by the disc the position of which is such that it reaches a temperature (about 600‹C.) at which the particles alloy with the nickel of the disc.
