Abstract
547,045. Photographic view-finders. LEITZ, E., GES. Feb. 10, 1941, No. 1755. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1940. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] The focusing eye lens 3 of the view-finder of a camera is supported centrally in a mount 11 of greater dimensions so as to leave a space between it and the mount through which an image of some indicating device, such as that of an exposure meter, external to the finder may be viewed. As shown, the lens 3 is carried by a glass plate 5 supported in the screwfocusing mount 11, and the image of the indicator 9 of an exposure meter formed by a lens 8 and mirror 7 is observed through the annular space around the lens. In modifications the lens 8 is omitted, and either the plane glass plate 5 is replaced by a lens to which the eye lens 3 is secured, or the meter is so positioned in the camera that the image formed by the mirror is at normal viewing distance from the eye, so that no lens is needed. In one construction of the last modification, the path of the rays from the indicator to the mirror is lengthened by reflection at two further mirrors.
