Abstract
545,349. Electric immersion heaters. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO.. Ltd. July 18, 1941, No. 9088. Convention date, July 19, 1940. [Class 39 (iii)] An immersion heater, applicable for insertion in the conduit between the engine jacket and the radiator in a motor vehicle. comprises a unit 10 of the sheathed wire type in which the wire is secured to inner terminals 14, Fig. 3 (not shown) over which outer terminals 15 are compressed. The terminals project through and are soldered to a support 18, and also project through a circular opening in the rubber radiator coupling 20, of a diameter sufficient to receive them. A hollow member 24 surrounds the terminals and its base is screwed to the support 18, the two co-operating parts being curved to a shape approximating that of the rubber coupling 20. which is clamped between them in a liquid-tight manner.
