Abstract
544,878. Screw propellers. BRUYNE, N. A., DE. July 22,1940, No. 12405/41. Divided out of 544,845, [Group VIII]. Drawings to Specification. [Class 114] [Also in Group VIII] Surfaces of a wooden airscrew coated with thermoplastic non-metallic material are protected by perforating a metallic sheet, e.g. stainless steel, applying it to the surface under heat and pressure, whereby the surface is penetrated by the metal displaced by the perforations. Perforations may be produced by the method described in Specification 544,879, [Group XXII]. The metal sheets may be shaped by stretching on a wooden frame. Strips may be applied from the leading edge of the airscrew round the trailing edge and to the leading edge where the edges of the strips are soldered to independent strips covering its leading edge. Specification 544,845 [Group VIII], also is referred to.
