Abstract
543,536. Motors. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MAGGS, A. H. Aug. 27, 1940, No. 13497. Addition to 392,299. Drawings to Specification. [Class 35] A single phase repulsion motor has its stator winding divided into two co-axial sections each section being tapped so that ratio of the windings of the tapped portion to the remaining main portion is between 15 and 30 per cent preferably 30 per cent. This enables effective number of turns on the motor to be matched more closely to the power it is required to deliver. To equalize the heating effect the turns of the tapped portion are wound with conductors of greater cross-sectional area than the main portion. The ends and tappings of the sections are brought out to six terminals and are connected by links in various ways, for example both sections in parallel ; main portions in parallel and tapped portions in series with them ; main portions only, in series ; all in series.
