Abstract

542,507. Photographic gelatine layers. KODAK, Ltd. July 12, 1940, No. 11585. Convention date, July 12, 1939. [Class 98 (ii)] [Also in Group V] The viscosity of liquids containing gelatine such as photographic emulsions is increased by addition of polyvinyl phthalate which may be dissolved in alkali, morpholine, #-diethylaminoethyl alcohol or pyridine. The solutions may be used in photographic film as a backing layer or as overcoating to prevent abrasion or static ; dyes may be incorporated to form filters or antihalation layers.
