542,043. Laminated springs. EATON MANUFACTURING CO. July 23, 1940, No. 12072. Convention date, July 27, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] The leaves of multiple leaf springs are, after cambering, cleaned and hardened by shot-blasting on that surface subject to tension when in use, whereby the fibres in this surface are compressed so as to permit of greater loading of the spring and increase its durability. The spring leaves may be of grooved section as described in Specification 467,407. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, covers treatment on both sides of the leaf. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
