541,869. Dynamometers. MONTGOMERY, W. H. May 14, 1940, No. 8653. Convention date, June 7, 1939. [Class 106 (ii)] A torque-indicating wrench comprises a part 10 for engagement at 16 with a nut and an operating handle 11, the part 10 having connected thereto two arms 12, 13 one of which 13 is held stationary while the other 12 can move relatively to the stationary arm and actuate an indicating device. Both arms enter the handle and the arm 13 is secured thereto by screws 20. The arm 12 is bifurcated at the free end 21 to embrace a guide sleeve 24 on a pin 25 passed through the handle. A dial gauge 37 is supported in a split boss 27 formed on the handle and is secured by a screw 32 causing the boss to grip the base 28 of the gauge 37. The feeler 30 engages a lug 34 secured to the arm 12 with slight pressure. The gauge is set to zero and when the wrench is used the arms 12, 13 move relatively to an extent indicated on the gauge.
