Abstract
541,239. Locks. TIBBLES, H. J., and RELYA-BELL, BURGLAR & FIRE ALARM CO., Ltd. May 23, 1941, No. 7291/40. [Class 44] To give greater movement to a lock bolt b than would occur with direct key-operation, the bolt is shot by a toothed disc e meshing with a rack on the bolt and rotated by the key h. The bolt is guided by a pin c thereon sliding in a slot d and is shown in intermediate position. The disc is locked in its extreme position by a stub i thereon co-operating with slots in one or more pivoted spring biased levers n pivoted on pin m. The key depresses the levers to release the disc and also engages a dog g to rotate the disc, the dog being radially slidable on stub i and urged inwards by the curved surface, concentric with disc e, of a block j biased by springs k. When the bolt reaches its extreme position in either direction the dog yields to allow the key to pass, thus releasing the levers n for locking engagement with stub i.
