Abstract

541,029. Valve generating circuits. CALVERT, R. June 14, 1940, No. 10395. [Class 40 (v)] A crystal controlled oscillator has a crystal connected in a feed-back circuit between the cathode of a cathode follower and the grid. In Fig. 3 the triode V1 is arranged as a cathode follower by the provision of resistance R1. A controlling crystal K is connected to the grid of V1, through amplifiers V2, V3 the function of which is to make up the voltage loss in the crystal and valve VI, without introducing substantial phase shift. In Fig. 4 to prevent intermodulation of harmonics produced by the limiting action of the circuit, an A.V.C. is supplied by applying the output from V3 to an amplifier V4 and diode V5 which applies an A.V.C. potential to V2. V4 acts as a separator valve and the output of the oscillator is taken from O, E. The phase lag due to V2, V3 may be corrected by a condenser connected across resistance R5 and the frequency may be adjusted by condensers C1, C2.
