Abstract

540,630. Valve amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 18, 1940, No. 11830. Convention date, Oct. 12, 1939. [Class 40 (v)] In a multi-stage amplifier having a negative feedback connection between the output and the input the interstage coupling network includes elements giving resonance points at two frequencies where there is a tendency to singing. Fig. 1 shows a network 34, 35, 36 common to the input and output circuits of stages 1 and 3. The coupling network L 1 , L 2 , C 2 , L 3 , C 3 and condenser 42 and leak 45 produce a phase adjustment to prevent singing at frequencies near the cut-off point and slightly above the transmitting range of the amplifier. A shield may surround elements 42, C 2 , L 1 , L 2 and be connected to the junction of L 2 , L,. The coupling network may be introduced into any stage of the amplifier or may be arranged in the negative feedback path or may be divided between these positions. The Specification gives curves showing the gain and phase changes occurring in an amplifier. Specification 514,567 is referred to.
