Abstract
534,641. Coke ovens. WOODALL-DUCKHAM (1920), Ltd., TAYLOR, A., and CLARK, A. N. Sept. 11, 1939, No. 25533. [Class 51 (ii)] In a coke oven having vertical upburning heating flues 5, rich gas for combustion is introduced for combustion at the same level and at a substantial distance above the base of each flue through a vertical refractory tube 10 arranged as a continuation of a well 11 at the base of which is arranged a regulating nozzle 7 supplied by a rich gas duct 6. Air for combustion enters through ports 9 at the base of the flue and the gas and air travel upwardly in non-turbulent streams.
