Abstract

534,465. Cathode-ray tubes. BLUMLEIN, A. D., and BLYTHEN, F. July 28, 1939, No. 21911. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] To correct defocussin, in cathode ray tube with electromagneti focussing through varia tions in the resistance o the focussing coil or in the anode voltage of th tube the coil is supplied through a high-imped ance valve the curren through which is regu lated in accordance with the anode voltage of the tube. The necessary relation between the anode voltage and the grid potential of the valve is discussed in the Specification. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement whereby the focussing current may be adjusted without interfering with the connection. The focussing coil 1 is connected in series with a pentode 2 the screen grid of which is connected to a source of stabilized potential and the anode of the valve 11. The control grid of the pentode 2 is connected to a potentiometer 12 between a stabilized source of supply and the cathode of the valve 11. The grid of the valve 11 receives a definite fraction of the anode potential of the cathode ray tube determined by resistances 7, 9 and a source of stabilized potential 10.
