Abstract

460,477. Cathode-ray tubes. ROCOAVSKI, W. and BECKER, F. A. Feb. 7, 1936, No. 3775. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] A means is provided for concentrating the ray in dependence up on the magnitude either of the ray cur rent or of a voltage derived from the ray or, in the case where a concentrating means independent of the magnitude of the ray current already exists of the voltage used for controlling the ray In one form, a con centrating lens system 3, 4, 6 independent of the ray current is provided, and an additional electrode 5 is biassed by a variable amount from the resistance 7 through which passes a current from the anode 2 proportional to the ray current. The arrangement is such that the concentration due to the electrode 5 increases with the ray current. The lenses be magnetic instead. In a tube having a constant concentration system the control voltage may be utilized directly or through an amplifier to provide additional concentration.
