Abstract
534,239. Tins &c. THOMAS, R. S. Sept. 8, 1939, No. 25392. [Class 66] Lids provided either in the flange or the top portion with integral cutters adapted to be bent inwardly or downwards to pierce and cut out a tagger &c. closure are provided with dimples or indentations adapted to engage the container and act as bearings during the rotation of the lid. The dimples &c. 5, Fig. 2, may be disposed at the sides of the cutter 2 or elsewhere around the flange 3 or in the top portion of the lid. A lateral depression may be provided below the root of the cutter to facilitate the setting in of the blade. Figs. 6 to 9 show modified forms of cutters disposed in the lid flange 3, that shown in Fig. 8 having recesses 10 disposed at either side of the root, the cutter in Fig. 9 being formed with stiffening ridges 12.
