Abstract

532,231. Delivering material for hoppers. ROSS, W. Aug. 23, 1939, No. 24246. [Class 78 (i)] In hoppers in which the delivery of material is assisted or retarded by rotating endless chains, the latter are made entirely or partly with open links. Fig. 1 shows a series of parallel chains rotated by pegs 3 on a driven shaft 5. The open side of the links preferably are formed with opposite V-shaped notches in the faces leading to the separated ends of the metal. Fig. 4 shows one modification in which double links welded together at 8 are staggered in adjacent runs of the chain and separated by single divided links. In some cases only an occasional row of links in the chain is divided, or merely the end links.
