530,344. Starch. CORN PRODUCTS REFINING CO. June 21, 1939, No. 18123. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1938. [Class 121] Thin-boiling, thick setting starch is prepared by heating an aqueous suspension of raw starch with calcium peroxide at 46‹-52‹C. for 24-48 hours, neutralizing with an acid having a soluble calcium salt and then washing and drying. In place of calcium peroxide, hydrogen peroxide mixed with calcium hydroxide or peroxide, or sodium peroxide, calcium hydroxide and a small proportion of hydrochloric acid may be used.
