Abstract

528,033. Rotary engines. RALSTON, G. Nov. 24, 1939, No. 30709. [Class 110 (ii)] Reversible hydraulic motors, working in parallel and geared to one shaft, comprise eccentrically mounted rotors 37, 38 each having a single sliding vane 45, 46 and rotating within cylindrical casings. The casings comprise fixed liners 20, 21, having alternative outlet ports 22, 23, 24, 25, and outer movable liners 28, 29 having single outlet ports 30, 31. By rotatably adjusting the outer liners the alternative ports, 22-25 are selectively connected to the main outlet. Liquid is introduced through the hollow rotor shafts 69, 70 and ports in the vanes 45, 46 and rotatably adjustable liners 65, 66 control the arc of admission. These liners are geared to and operate with the liners 28, 29. Alternative ports 50, 51, Fig. 3, are provided in each vane controlled by an automatic valve 57 which swings under the pressure in the working chamber to open the appropriate port.
