Abstract

526,141. Furnace casings. INTERNATIONAL FURNACE EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., and JONES, W. H. March 9, 1939, No. 7620. [Class 51 (ii)] To prevent the passage of air through cracks which may develop in tunnel furnace walls, 'the walls are enclosed in sheet metal casings formed by panels a having flanged edges c with their edges turned over to form grooves d engaging with the straight flanges of U-shape sheet metal pillars e. The pillars e at the ends of the furnace have one flange extended at f to embrace the ends of the walls. The pillars may be provided with grooves instead of the panels. The casings on opposite sides of the tunnel furnace are held in position by bolts passing through the casings and brickwork and secured by nuts and springs.
