Abstract
524,592. Developing silver-chloride emulsion layers. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. Feb. 1, 1939, No. 3439. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1938. [Class 98 (ii)] Silver chloride papers are developed in neutral black tones even in the presence of substances tending to give a blue-black effect by the use of a developer to which has been added hexamethylenetetramine or derivatives thereof, other than hexamethylenetetramine derivatives of polyhydroxyphenols and like developing agents, such as the iodomethylate, preferably in the proportion of 1 to 10 grams per litre of developer. A metol-hydroquinone developer to which has been added hexamethylenetetramine or its iodomethylate may be employed to develop to a neutral black gaslight paper and silver chloride paper provided with a protective layer containing nitrobenziminazole, or a metol hydroquinone developer containing both N-hydroxymethylenebenztriazole and hexamethylenetetramine may be used to produce neutral black tones on silver chloride papers. The use of hexamethylenetetramine in developers as a hardening agent and in place of alkali, and of compounds thereof with pyrogallol, pyrogallol monomethyl ether, and methyl pyrogallol monomethyl ether as developing agents is referred to.
