Abstract

524,256. Tank vehicles. SHELVOKE & DREWERY, Ltd., EDWARDS, C. K., and HILL, E. A. Jan. 26, 1939, No. 2757. [Class 108 (i)] [Also in Group I] A container 10 for the collection and disposal of noxious or offensive materials, e.g., night soil comprises a pail 10 provided with cover having one part 12 hinged at 14 and a fixed part 16 to which is fixed a pipe 18 which extends nearly to the inclined bottom 22 of the pail 10. Surrounding the top of the pipe 18 is a rubber ring 24 which serves to receive the end of a pipe 26 connected to a wheeled collecting tank 28 through a manually operated valve 30. The pail 10 is supported on a platform 36 carried by an arm 32 fixed to the frame 34 of the tank and mounted on pivoted levers 38 connected together by a link 40 and adapted to be raised and lowered by the operation of a foot pedal 42. In a second form, Fig. 3, the platform 36 is fixed, the pipe 18 is shaped as shown the upper part 19 being bent to fit in the ring 24 now carried by the pipe 26 connected to a wheeled collecting tank part being bent to communicate with an opening 23 in the bottom 22 which is sloped in the opposite direction to that shown in Fig. 1. In another form, the pipe 18 is fixed to the outside of the pail and communicates with the latter through an opening in its side.
