Abstract

523,449. Ethers. GOWLAND, T. B., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 29, 1938, No. 37751. [Class 2 (iii)] Fluorine-containing ethers are made by reacting an alkali metal alcoholate with 1- chlorodifluor-2-dichlorethane and isolating the resulting ether from the reaction product. The products have the general formula CHCl 2 .CF 2 OR, where ROH is the alcohol used. The preparation of ethers from methyl, ethyl and isobutyl alcohols is exemplifies ; the ethers from propyl, isopropyl and n-butyl alcohols, and from cyclohexanol and its homologues, are also specified.
