Abstract

522,919. Photo - electric exposure meters. VOCKENHUBER, K., and HANDLER, A. Dec. 21, 1938, No. 37136. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1937. [Class 98 (i)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL] In a photographic photo - electric exposure meter of the moving-coil type, the shutter speed, diaphragm aperture, emulsion sensitivity, or the like are expressed by variation of the magnetic resistance or flux in the field or armature system. As shown in Fig. 1, the yoke 7 of the magnet may be raised or lowered by an adjusting screw 8. A thin layer z of copper, pertinax or other non-magnetic material is provided to prevent adherence of the yoke in its initial position. The moving-coil 4 actuates a pointer indicating the exposure values. The yoke may be divided into two parts each adjustable in accordance with one value such as emulsion sensitivity, or may be provided with two adjusting movements as by two engaging screw-threads, The magnet may comprise two hinged parts that may be spread by an adjustable device, or the poleshoes may be slidable on their common yoke. The magnet, Fig. 4, may have an air gap s<SP>2</SP> in which is turned a disc 20 of Increasing thickness and which may be made of materials of different magnetic permeability. Two or more air gaps and two or more discs 20 may be provided each adjustable in accordance with one value. A prism may be moved between the pole-shoes, or the yoke may be turned with respect to the poleshoes. The pole-shoes may be longitudinally divided and adjustably spread. The moving-coil may be raised or lowered between the pole-shoes. A rotatable magnetic shunt may be arranged at the end of the pole-shoes or the core of a moving coil may be of oval or other non - circular section and may be adjustably turned. The various devices may be used in combination. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of the moving- coil for directly actuating the shutter or the diaphragm. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
