[Class 35] A lighting magneto has an annular armature into which is fitted a rotary magnet composed of a permanent magnet 1 and polar enlargements 2, 3 of soft steel which is contained completely within the armature, and the enlargements are extended on at least one face of the magnet parallel with the axis of rotation. The magnet and laminated pole-pieces are held between two non-magnetic plates 4, 5 and the outer laminae are flanged at 8 ... 11. The polepieces need not be laminated.
