Abstract

521,722. Fuel-injection devices. AMERY, G. Nov. 24, 1938, No. 34225. [Class. 7 (iii)] In a fuel injector comprising a, valve controlled by fluid pressure acting on opening and closing pistons by means for periodically varying the pressure acting on. the opening-piston, a spring is provided for assisting the opening action. Fig. 1 shows a fuel-injection valve 17 in connection, by means of members 22, 29, 30, with a piston 28, the upper face of which is supplied with fuel pressure admitted at 32 for closing the valve, and the lower face with fuel pressure admitted by a distributor and connection 39 to exert an opening- force on the valve, this force being assisted by a spring 36. A closing- spring 21 also acts between an adjustable abutment 20 and the member 22. A drainage 'outlet is provided at 41. In a modification, the pressure acting on the underside of the piston 28 also acts on a slide valve which cuts off the supply of fuel to the nozzle, by way of passages 33, 34, 35, when the injection valve is closed. Specifications 443,124, 468,360, 501,588, 501,632, 501,633, [Group XXVIII], and 521,736 are referred to.
