Abstract
520,413. Cleaning containers. HENKEL & CIE GES. Oct. 21, 1938, Nos. 30548 and 30549. Convention dates, Dec. 16, 1937, and May 19, 1938. [Class 138 (i)] An apparatus for cleaning large containers internally by means of an alkaline cleansing solution atomized by steam, comprises a receptacle A for solution, an atomizing nozzle H with solution and steam pipes G, O, and a preheating pipe P. In use, superheated steam from a pipe J is passed to the pipe P for preheating the container R, and to the receptacle A for mixing and heating the solution. Valves D and N are then opened to supply solution and superheated steam to the nozzle H. After spraying, the walls of the container are rinsed off with hot water. Solutions of.alkali silicates, carbonates, hydroxides, or phosphates may be used. In a modification, wet or low-pressure steam is used, and the solution is forced to the nozzle by a pump. The solution may be fed into the steam pipe at any point thereof, and the nozzle H may be dispensed with.
