Abstract
519,501. Endless-chain conveyers. NEW CONVEYOR CO., Ltd., and HOYLE, H. P. Nov. 5, 1938, No. 32127. [Class 78 (i)] Material is fed from a lower chamber charged through an opening j, and delivered to a shoot k by pivoted carriers m attached at intervals to an endless chain i. On the up-run through the conduit c the carriers are maintained horizontal by projections at their rear edges engaging the rear wall of the conduit. The latter is sloped rearwardly at p to allow the carriers to tilt and deliver the material to the shoot. Positive tilting is ensured by the ramp q. A second ramp s rights the carriers again before they pass the upper sprocket. Contact with the sloping portion of the outer wall of the descent conduit gradually tilts -the carriers again until contact of their rear projections with the inner'wall b can maintain them in the tilted position. Contact with the ramp u once more sets them at right angles to the run of the chain as they pass under the charging opening. A gap between the holding ramps u<1> and v allows the carriers to tilt momentarily again to drop any material they may have collected down to the bottom of the conduit from whence they scrape it up after passing the lower sprocket. The matter claimed in Specification 510,837 is disclaimed in the present Specification.
