Abstract

519,073. Shoe-trimming machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and SHEFFIELD, C. C. Sept. 14, 1938, No. 26758. [Class 17 (i)] An inseam trimming machine of the kind described in Specification 112,808 is provided with means for adjusting the knife transversely of the line of work feed, so that the inclination of the trimming cut may be varied. The frusto-conical cutter 5 is driven by a gear 29 secured to the cutter, and a train of gearwheels on shafts 33, 37, 41. The gear 29 and cutter are carried by a block 3 adjustable transversely of the axis' of the cutter by a screw having a head 21. The shafts of the driving train are carried by a block 1, these two blocks being adjustable as described in the prior Specification. Transverse adjustment of the cutter makes it possible to make a cut inclined to the sole, the stitches in the channel being nearer the last than those securing the welt. The adjustment does not take the wheel 29 out of mesh with its driving gear. Specification 112,808, [Class 17 (i)], is referred to.
