518,140. Stays for hinged articles. SPEGELSTEIN, S., and COOK, C. H. Sept. 10, 1938, No. 26498. [Class 65 (i)] A jointed folding stay for a mirror &c. 1 comprises 4, 5 pivoted at 7 to the mirror and at 8 to the fixed frame 3, at least one of said connection being adapted to adjust itself in a direction transverse to the axis of the pivot. In one form, the pivot 8 is carried by a bar 10 slidably mounted in a bracket 11. The joint 6. between the arms 4, 5 may comprise friction elements and one of them may have a flange 19 to limit the relative turning movement of the arms on the pivot 18. A similar stop 20 for the arm 5 may be provided on the slide 10. The arm 5 may be forked to accommodate the arm 4 when the arms are folded.
