[Class 143] In an automatic weighing machine the weigh pan comprises an upper shallow portion a and a pair of pivoted discharge gates d which,. on opening, strike against stops q thereby dislodging any adherent material. The gates may be opened against spring resistance by a lever f engaging rollers h on the gates. Spring-pressed latches may assist in holding the gates in the closed position. The stops q may be in the form of spring-loaded buffers and may be vibrated longitudinally by any convenient electrically or mechanically operated means.
