Abstract

518,018. Vehicle seats. CHAPMAN, A. W. Aug. 5, 1938, No. 23203. [Class 52 (ii)] A vehicle seat is'pivoted at the front at 51A to a fixed frame 51 and, at the rear, it is supported on a rotatable cam 53. The latter 'is formed with flat abutment surfaces 53A .. C which prevent the load on the seat from rotating the cam, and each surface is spaced a different distance from a shaft 54 by which the cam is rotated in order to give different degrees of tilt to the seat. The shaft is supported on the frame 51 and has an operating handle 56 carrying a spring-pressed detent engageable with recesses in a fixed plate 55. The seat may also carry a fork the legs of which straddle the edge of the cam and frictionally engage both faces thereof.
