Abstract
517,853. Refrigerating. PRESSED STEEL CO., Ltd., and BRANDON, A. O. Aug. 12, 1938, No. 23808. [Class 29] The air of a storage chamber for fish &c. to be kept moist is cooled to a moderate temperature by a connected series of coils 13 of a secondary closed condensing heat transfer system having stretches 13<2>, 13<3> in contact with two faces 14, 15 of a metal ice-making compartment 12 which is cooled by a primary evaporator coil 11 wound on it. The stretches 13<2>, 13<3> constitute the condensing elements of the heat transfer system and the evaporator elements are constituted by stretches 13', 13' spaced from the metal walls, and if desired provided with fins 17. The stretches 13<2> are connected by riser portions 19 with the stretches 13<1> so that only vapour and not condensate may flow in the direction to the stretches 13', thus ensuring unidirectional circulation in the secondary system. The pipes of the secondary system are of small bore so that condensate is lifted by gas bubbles during ebullition.
