Abstract

517,172. Airtight containers. for cigars &c. LORENIAN, J. Z., and LORENIAN, L. July 20, 1938, No. 21577, Convention date, August 2, 1937. [Classes 18 and 66] Airtight containers for cigars &c. comprise tubular body portions of paper or like flexible material, which may be treated with wax or lacquer, provided at one or both ends with non- removable internally fitting, Fig. 1, or externally fitting, Fig. 2, closures of similar material, the inner member in either case being initially of slightly larger lateral dimensions than the outer in the overlapping zone. To allow egress of air during application of the closures, grooves 4, 4a, subsequently sealed with paraffin wax, are provided on the body or closure portions respectively. The members may additionally be formed with one or more pairs of grooves. such as 7, 8, Fig. 4, the air egress groove in this case being at 4b. The closures may be applied to one end only of the tubes the other ends being then closed, for instance by a series of teeth 6, Fig. 2, cut from the end of the blank from which the body is formed, and pressed together. A sewn-in or adhesively attached tearing thread 5 or 5b, may be provided at this end to facilitate opening. The Specification as open to inspection under Sec, 91 describes also a rectangular container, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), provided with an externally fitting non-removable cover shown in dotted lines.' The tearing thread 5c extends around three sides only, affording a hinge opening. This subject-matter does-not appear in the Specification as accepted.
